Every 10 years, counties with a council form of government are required to adjust their council districts to account for any population changes. School Board districts and County Council districts are the same in Wasatch County so redistricting affects both governing bodies.
Our redisitricting goals were to adjust each boundary so that the total population of each council district is within plus or minus 3%, keep the current Council and School Board members within in the districts they were elected to, and minimize boundary changes so as to not unduly confuse the residents of Wasatch County. This redistricting process was accomplished by using a Geographical Information System (GIS) and the 2010 Federal Government Census population data.
The redistricting process was only for the Council/School Board district boundaries. Once the new districts were adopted by the Wasatch County Council, the county's voting precincts were reprecincted to match the council boundaries, state and federal election boundaries, and municipal boundaries. The results of the reprecincting were presented to the Wasatch County Council and approved. Maps of the five council districts and their associated voting precincts are available from the Clerk's Office or by using the links found below.
